Footnotes

The links on this page are provided primarily for the convenience of readers of the printed book. They enable you to easily access various URLs without the need to type them out in full.

The Internet is a very dynamic thing, and we have no control over what third-parties do with their own websites. So, some of the links published in the book may become out-of-date - or even become inactive (as was the case with the www.CosmologyStatement.org site).  This special 'Footnotes' page allows us to fix broken links for you, if any websites re-structure their content - or link to alternative pages (or perhaps a copy of it that we made ourselves) if the original content is no longer published. For this reason, all the links in the e-book versions also take you to a matching bookmark in this page, which has the live links to third-party websites.

Unfortunately, two different numbering schemes have been used for footnotes. In the electronic versions, they continue consecutively through the entire book. In the printed version, the numbers are reset and start again from one within each chapter. (In the printed version, the footnotes are at the bottom of each page. In the e-books, they are all listed together at the end of each chapter.) So, in the copies of the footnotes with hyperlinks below, we have given the e-book footnote number first, followed immediately by the printed footnote number and page number enclosed in brackets.

The Universe

8. (1 on Page 27 - 'fabric of space') If you are not familiar with this terminology and its associated concepts, use the phrases ‘metric expansion of space’ and ‘fabric of space expanding accelerating’ in a search engine. There are several astronomy and physics websites that give good explanations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerating_expansion_of_the_universe is also useful.

Then search again adding the keyword image or animation. Be aware that most animations are greatly simplified compared with the real thing. Other cellular machines worth investigating are ATP synthase and kinesin motor protein.
